Although the council's waste collection crews are back at work the trade unions are still pursuing ‘action short of a strike’ which continues to have an impact on the waste collection service, including further delays to collections.
We continue to use third party collectors to supplement its own waste collection crews.
We are prioritising the collection of black bag waste first followed by dry recyclables and this has meant that currently garden waste and special bulky household waste collections are not taking place.
Please note that as waste collections are likely to be subject to delay, if your bins are not emptied on the scheduled day, please continue to make them available for collection as we will return the following day(s).
If you wish to dispose of this waste yourself please take it to the household waste recycling centre at Endle Street (off Albert Road North) Southampton or Grange Road, Netley. These sites are open 8am – 7pm, 7 days a week.
You can find further information on the councils website.
