After being reported to the local Portswood Action team, the land next to Q2000 in St Denys has now been cleaned and a vast amount of rubbish has been removed. Unfortunately in the past few months a number of people have decided to fly tip along this area, creating a real eyesore for nearby residents. The city councils local area team have now cleaned up the site and removed the rubbish including trolleys and mattresses.

Portswood litter pick with SSF

On the morning of Saturday 28th June, I was able, along with other volunteers, to participate in the Portswood litter pick organised by the Southampton Sustainability Forum.  The litter pick was organised to coincide with the weekend that most students leave their rented accommodation for the summer.

We were able to pick up litter in the roads surrounding Portswood Church, including Portswood Avenue, Shakespeare Avenue and Tennyson Road. Overall, I think it was a really useful morning, improving the streets of these areas in Portswood. All volunteers deserve credit for giving up their time to participate in the scheme.
